Hi hi, hello.
We’re back again with yet another blog all about one of Lauryn’s most favorite things in this whole wide world: essential oils.
Honestly, if you’re not diffusing oil somewhere in your house right now, we need to get you into it, stat.
Essential oils are basically concentrated plant extracts. And we all know there are plenty of plants out there that have amazing medicinal properties. So, when you diffuse these plant oils and allow your body to absorb them, you’re literally soaking up all these beneficial properties in the most efficient way possible.
In fact, diffused oils are literally like the water in the air. So they’re one of the only things that can be absorbed by ALL your cells. In the simplest terms, essential oils are like medicine, but quicker, cleaner, and healthier. We’ll take it.
Plus, they usually smell amazing. So what’s not to love?
And these medicinal properties we mentioned are like seriously magical. This goes for the mind, the body, the spirit – everything.
There are thousands of different essential oils out there that can help remedy all sorts of mental and physical ailments. And while we would love to talk about each and every one and all the amazing benefits they can provide…that would take way too long.
So, today, we’re going to focus on the best essential oils for the bedroom.
Certain scents can help set the mood, calm your senses, and create a relaxing environment. Whether you’re looking to get down and dirty or simply rest and relax after a long, hard day of being a Queen, there is an essential oil just for that.
Okay, now that you’ve got a little intro to essential oils (which everyone and their mom should be using like yesterday) – let’s get to the good stuff. Grab your diffuser (this one is Lauryn’s fav) and let’s get into it.
Here’s our roundup of the best essential oils to use to transform your bedroom into a haven of tranquility and calmness:
Best Essential Oils For The Bedroom
Let’s start with Lauryn’s absolute fav essential oil: tangerine. This one has literally so many benefits. Tangerine is great for making your bedroom smell nice, citrusy, and clean. And it’s also a digestive aid, an antiseptic, and an immune booster.
It’s the best for the bedroom because it helps with insomnia and memory support. Most importantly, it aids in cell regeneration and purifies the blood. You mean we can be reaping all these benefits while sleeping? YES.
Lavender is all about getting much needed beauty rest. This essential oil is known to help prevent a variety of sleep disturbances and promotes more restful sleep. Lavender is also great for reducing that anxiety and stress that builds up throughout the day. Feel free to mix lavender and orange, tangerine, or lemongrass for a really nice nighttime aroma.
Sandalwood is one of those essential oils that literally does everything. When applied straight to the skin, it can help clear away eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It can also help reduce the look of scarring and wrinkles.
When it comes to the bedroom, this essential oil has some serious calming and relaxing effects – like don’t want to get out of bed you feel so relaxed effects. It’s also great for mental clarity. And the best part is, it’s a natural aphrodisiac for those nights when you’re feeling frisky.
Frankincense is such a nice smell because it’s really earthy, but at the same time, it’s still soft, and almost citrusy. It’s super calming and reminds us of nature and sunshine and happiness. This oil contains antiseptic, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties which make it amazing for the skin. Diffuse some of this oil overnight to protect, repair, and regenerate your skin cells.
♡ ylang ylang
Like frankincense, ylang ylang is also really good for the skin, as well as the scalp. It can stimulate oil production and so helps relieve dry skin all over the body. But, this essential oil is mostly known for its mental benefits.
It can help with boosting mood, reducing stress and anxiety, and relieving symptoms of depression. It can even lower blood pressure and reduce your heart rate. All of these benefits combined make for a restful and worry-free night of sleep.
Jasmine has so many benefits for the bedroom. First of all, it’s excellent for fighting insomnia and even has sedative properties that help relieve anxiety, stress, and symptoms of depression.
It’s also known to increase your sexual desires and prevent some common intercourse issues. These include impotence, prematurely getting off, and frigidity. If you’re looking to amp up your sex life, this is definitely the oil to diffuse.
♡ Woodsy Aromas
Okay, so most of the other oils on this list are standalone, but for this one, we’re grouping all the woodsy aromas together. These include pine, cedar, juniper, cypress, eucalyptus, and so on. These scents are usually super earthy, fresh, and natural. And of course they would be – they come from trees.
Because they have such a natural smell, they are perfect for relaxation and stress-relief. Just a few drops of pine will have the stress of the day rolling right off your shoulders. Plus, most woodsy oils contain terpenes which have so many nice effects on the body. They can relieve muscle and joint pain/tension, they are useful in treating colds and flu, and they have anti-inflammatory effects. Yes to all of that.
♡ Fractionated Coconut Oil
Fractionated coconut oil is the perfect blender oil/carrier oil to mix with other oils on this list because it has no real smell. Like honestly, you should combine a few drops of this oil every time you diffuse just because it’s so amazing and won’t affect the aroma of your other oils.
Benefits of fractionated coconut oil revolve around the skin. Diffusing this oil throughout the night can help heal up dry patches and prevent drying of the skin. It can also help get rid of stretch marks.
This is key to keeping skin hydrated because most of the drying out happens throughout the night anyway. And speaking of drying out throughout the night, if you suffer from dry skin, you NEED the The Skinny Confidential x Canopy humidifier. (Like seriously, RUN don’t walk, to snatch up this bad boy. One of the most common remedies for insomnia is drinking a nice cup of chamomile tea. Well, diffusing chamomile does the same thing. It calms the body, reduces all the built up tension and anxiety, and gets you ready for a restful night of beauty sleep.
Other than fighting insomnia, this oil is also good for combating indigestion and nausea and healing eczema and psoriasis. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve muscle and joint pain.
♡ Clary Sage
Okay. Clary sage might be the last on this list, but it is certainly not the least. We love clary sage in particular because it has some benefits that extend just to us women. Not only is it a natural antidepressant, but it has properties that directly relieve pain caused by our menstrual cycles and menopause. A natural cure for period cramps? We’re so in.
This essential oil also contains a variety of antibacterial properties as well. And like, who doesn’t want a natural antibacterial floating around their bedroom? It’s a great way to reduce germs and keep your bedroom feeling nice and fresh. Especially when we know all the dirty things that go down in there. LOL.
Essential oils are so in.
In most cases, you’ll want to add 3-5 drops of each of these scents to your diffuser for the best results. Once you’ve tried each one, you can decide if you want to add more or less or even add in other scents. You’ll be so surprised to see how many different combinations you can create that all smell and feel amazing.
Not sure which brand of essential oils to purchase?
Anyway, this is the time of self-care and we aren’t skipping any steps. So, grab your essential oils and get to diffusing. You won’t regret it.
Oh, and be sure to let us know your fav essential oils below. Lauryn’s all time favorite oil brand is K’pure.
We love a good recommendation and can’t wait to see what oil combinations you guys love the most.
